When Arizona State University helped Louis Delisle discover the insecticidal qualities of the product and it was presented to the USDA for registration as an insecticide, they refused to register it. Agreeing that it killed insects, they said since it was not poison, they could not call it an insecticide, therefore they would not register it. It took a Congressional Hearing to force the registration.

The product was cleared for controlling bugs in stored grain and rated by the FDA as such with a no tolerance requirement, which in layman’s language means the product is safe.

When grain is “protected” with harsh chemicals, it is generally applied every six months. As it evaporates and needs to be replaced, there are highly toxic residues for either a human or animal to eat. When grain is protected with Perma-Guard’s Grain protectant, it need be treated only once, as the grain goes into storage. Regardless of how many years the grain is kept or if it is shipped, the protection is there and if any animal or human eats the grain there are no toxic residues. In fact, the nutritive value of the food or feed is increased by 14 trace minerals.

One of the other patents was for the purpose of adding the DE to foods or feed that would not pour easily. For example, most animal foods contain molasses or some such sticky substance, causing the material to be difficult to pour. Adding the FOSSIL SHELL FLOUR, which is pure “food grade” DE, commonly called Silica, which is the second most common thing found on the Earth. All the sand on the sea shore is silica and most of the rocks of the earth are largely silica. The other 30 % is made up of 14 trace minerals dissolved from the water.

The product was called an Anti-caking agent but as people fed rations containing the DE to their animals they began to notice changes in the animals. For example, Dairymen noticed an increase in milk production, enough to more than pay the cost of the product. They also noticed the animals did not need to be wormed, and that flies could not hatch out of the manure. Horse and hog people discovered that a rodeo horse with an arthritic shoulder got well on this product, and when the rider developed arthritis and tried the DE the shoulder got well. For ten years we refused to accept these claims, but the people kept on buying and then began to tell their neighbors and friends about the benefits. We would get calls asking for the product that cured Arthritis, or that stopped E coli poisoning, and we would sometimes tell them they had the wrong number, or they were mistaken, but finally decided that there had to be some truth there.

What really made us open our minds was that a Ph D medical researcher, hearing some of these stories came and asked us to give him all the information we could and then told us that he had nickel poisoning for ten years, it was destroying his health. He said, if it will take bacteria and viruses out of the body, it might take out the nickel. In sixty days he was free of the nickel, and now, after research, he says it also takes out Aluminum, Lead and Mercury. He is doing experimental work on horses with Melanoma, which most vets will tell you is a waste of time. So far he has never lost a horse.

His procedure included having the horse on our product because of its power to take toxic substances out of the body. Suddenly a young vigorous horse that he thought would respond quickly did not and he discovered that the owner was not giving him the DE. In one week on the DE there was a definite improvement and The PhD came to realize his medication was not very effective without the DE. Now he refused to treat any animal that is not eating our Fossil Shell Flour, and he takes three heaping serving spoons of the DE himself every day, as do I—16 years!

We are going to end this series with this article. There is plenty more to tell about the Diatom and its marvelous uses, but we are going to start a campaign on fire ants. Many people find it had to believe that a product so beneficial to animals internally can also be very effective with eradicating fire ants, but no chemical is better. Also, there is no damage to the environment or any danger to the pets or children, and no bug can become immune to it as they do with a Chemical.
