The Diatoms
FOSSIL SHELL FLOUR
#5

by Wallace Tharp

DiatomsMost animal food is hard to pour It is made up of many different plants and grain that has lots of fiber in it. Most also has something sticky like molasses, and the particles hang together and hard to pour. Industry, looking for some way to solve the problem, found this pure, “FOOD GRADE” absolutely not poisonous diatomaceous earth.(DE) When they mixed into the ground feed at the rate of 2%, or, two pounds per hundred lbs of feed, the DE separated the feed particles, so that they could slide over each other, pouring very easily. It solved their problem, but led to a serious of discoveries that has shocked many people, including animal feed “experts” .

The FDA, after a period of time, called and protested our choice of a name. When asked about their grounds for dissatisfaction, they did not like the word “flour” saying it tended to make people think it had food value. They wanted us to just call it “Diatomaceous earth” We told them that every deposit of DE was different, that we had to have a name that separated this particular DE from any other DE. Besides, that the name fit the product perfectly, as we took the chunks of DE that was made up of microscopic shells and ground them to the consistency of flour. We insisted on keeping the name, and they reluctantly agreed. We are certainly glad, as that name has become known around the world, along with the name of Perma-Guard, Inc. This product, with the help of Arizona State University was patented in 1962 as a “wormer”. Worming products are normally deadly poisons where the manufacturer works hard to determine how much they can give to kill the parasite but not kill the animal.

If you were to claim to kill a bug, the product would have to registered with EPA and classified as an insecticide. If you claim to kill bugs, then you must sell the product under a different label. Under the name of Fossil Shell Flour, this totally safe product is not legally an insecticide, and there are no warnings of any kind, but if you put a different label that says its kills bugs then it must have warnings on the label, like “Keep out of the hands of children”. So the pure DE was labeled Grain Protectant. It could be mixed with stored grain, treated only once, and the grain kept indefinitely—absolutely free of bugs and free of poison residues. Now it is an insecticide and must not be fed to animals.

Now, the product is sometimes a totally safe animal food additive, but in a different sack it becomes a bug killer that required warnings on the label. It makes it difficult to explain the logic of this to a farmer. We have to charge him more for the insecticide because we must pay EPA $5600 per year for permission to sell. We also must pay each individual State Dept of Agriculture a fee. I think this is a good example of why the word ‘bureaucrat” makes a farmer mad every time he hears it!

There are only two things that make the products different. One is the label and the other is the price. The amazing thing is that as people fed their animals the FOSSIL SHELL FLOUR, they began to see improvements in the health of their animals. Now and then, a man would say, did you know that if an animal has arthritis and eats food with your de in it that the arthritis goes away? Another says that when he fed food containing DE to a diary cow that they increase their milk production five to seven percent. One farmer who kept careful books could tell you to the penny what each cow cost him in vet bills per year. After feeding feed with DE one year, he discovered that his vet bills dropped 70%. Other people, or maybe the same people, discovered that the odor of the barnyards had greatly reduced, or that the fly population decreased about 90%.

Then a Canadian Doctor wrote an article in a national magazine stating that DE stopped E-Coli poisoning immediately. Austrian scientists discovered that DE reduced Cholesterol levels in the blood and kept it down. Then we discover that Texas A & M did a test on worming. Taking thirty pregnant goats, the first ten were wormed with Ivomectin, a product of Merck Labs, the same people that put out Vioxx. The second ten were wormed with a mixture of DE and Ivomectin and the third group was wormed with just DE. Guess which one was 100%. A vet from Canada working with 2000 calves discovered that calves getting DE in their diet did not have scours.

From the Internet, from books and from interviews with various scientists, we have discovered that some highly qualified people have done research and have written reports on this anti-caking agent and we find that it is likely that the ability to make feed pour better is the least benefit from the use of Fossil Shell Flour.

One medical researcher PhD had a serious case of nickel poisoning and for years did everything the medical system could suggest and he could not get rid of the problem that was destroying his health. Realizing that the product was totally non poisonous, he decided to try it. In sixty days his blood was clear of nickel and a drastic improvement in his health took place in just weeks. Further research shows that it will remove Aluminum, lead and Mercury from the blood. He has stated that : This is the nearest to a miracle product he has ever seen, that it does so much good in the body and has no side effects. It is a very queer feeling to discover that a product sold only for the simple purpose of making feed flow better is possibly a miracle health product, but we do not have the money for scientific proof that the FDA will accept so we tell people we are just selling an anti-caking agent and if they find other benefits, they are free. Of course, I have been taking two heaping teaspoons per day for 16 years.
