The Diatom plant is so tiny that it must be magnified hundreds of times to be seen, thousands of time to see it in detail. It is hard to realize how it could be so essential to all the life on this planet, both in the water and on land. Fully half of the people on earth depend greatly on food from the sea for their very existence. Every one of the aquatic beings in water depends on the Diatom for their life.

As we have pointed out, all plants produce Oxygen, the most essential substance needed just to keep us and every living thing on earth alive. Scientists have estimated that the Diatom produces over 70% of the oxygen that you, the reader, breathes right now. The land plants, all the trees, grasses, gardens, etc, produce the other thirty percent. Then comes the matter of a healthy body. Science has shown that when a baby if formed, a healthy set of bones and ligaments, nails, hair and many other organs have need of much Silica. The mother’s body will furnish all that it can to give the baby’s body all the silica it needs, even to depleting some they need for their own health. Strangely, Fossil Shell Flour is 89% Silicon Dioxide. Silica is the second most common element on the earth. It is all around us, but most of it is not available for the body to use. Beach Sand, for example is silica. A high percentage of the rocks around us are silica, but do not try eating sand or gravel to get your Silica. Believe me, you will have more than a stomach ache!

To get silica suitable for the body’s use, it is essential to eat food that is high in fiber, so, in eating mostly highly processed foods, a person cannot get enough silica for the body’s needs. For maximum health a person probably needs to find a suitable source and supplement. One of the best sources is a plant called Horsetail. It is not something you would want to eat but a tea made from it is rich in available Silica. It is very important that a person knows what he is taking. In other parts of this story it is pointed out that most DE silica deposits should never be taken internally by either animals or humans, and you cannot tell by looking at it. It must have an analysis and an electron microscope picture. You need to know the people that furnish your product.

There is a tendency to think that all Diatomaceous Earth is the same as any other Diatomaceous Earth. People seeing us selling hundreds of truck loads and knowing where there is a deposit see no reason why they should not be selling it too, so they sack it up and deliver it, having no idea of what it is made up of or what the results of feeding it will be. They probably mean no; harm but they can cause a lot of harm, even the death of animals.

We spent money we could not afford, trying all over the world, trying to find even a small amount. I even went to Kenya, Africa that produced 70% of the world’s supply, but I came back with none, after spending $2200 dollars uselessly. We were in desperate shape. Our lease was running out on our building, we did not see how we could pay our rent. We were definitely considering closing our business and getting a job! At Christmas time, sitting by myself in our office, wondering what to do, my eyes fell on the account record of one of the Dairymen that had just turned in a new order. I wondered why he used the product. I wondered what benefits he saw in his animals when he used it. I picked up the phone and called him and asked those questions, and i got the shock of my life!
