The characteristic that got the most attention of people in the first place was the fact that the product killed bugs—SAFELY, the insects could not become immune to it. it did not bring any harm to the environment.
When the congressional hearing was held, forcing the USDA to register the products, a great deal of publicity took place.. This writer has copies of three important newspapers that wrote extensive articles, taking up as much as a full page telling of the important benefits of the products.
This caused the purchasing agents of large chain operations to buy large quantities of the products, and the Company felt they were on the way to great success. IT WAS NOT TO BE!
When a user sprays a chemical poison on an insect, the bug dies right there, immediately. If you spray Perma-Guard insecticide on a bug, it looks like nothing happens. Remember that our insect dies from dehydration, and that takes time. Someone who has been using toxic chemicals on bugs, seeing immediate results, then buys and tries Perma-Guard Products, and sees the bug continuing to act normal, it is natural for them to think the product is now working. They get mad, take the product back to the store and demand their money back. Only the Purchasing agent got the full story. There is no one in that individual store that knows anything about the product, how it works or how long the process takes. The Clerk does not care which product is bought—just as long as something is bought After getting a number of complaints about the product, the store manager boxes up the product and sends it back to the manufacturer for a refund.
The Perma-Guard Company, composed of fine professional type men, wanting to do the “right” thing, bought back $5,000,000 worth of product. This broke their financial back and their spirit. These men were Engineers, Accountants, Stock Brokers, and members of many other professions. They knew nothing of marketing, the knew nothing of the rough and tumble of competitive selling. The especially knew nothing of how to compete with giant corporations that had huge amounts of money to spent on influencing government agencies that was not friendly to natural products any way. They had no idea of how to reach and teach the public about this wonderful, effective and safe product and they ended up in bankruptcy.
What needed to be done was two fold: First, the public needed to become fully aware of the damage that was being done but the use of vast quantities of dreadfully long lasting chemicals that do not work very long anyway, as the insects become immune, requiring the development of more deadly chemicals. In the long run they do far more damage than good.
The second thing that needed to be done was to find ways of showing people the our product really worked. They had to understand the product and how it works, an realize that it does not matter if it takes a few minutes for an insect, treat in Perma-Guard Products, to even become aware that it is trouble. THE BUG IS GOING TO DIE—IT DOES NOT MATTER THAT IT TAKES A WHILE FOR THE PROCESS TO WORK.
What really matters is that the highly toxic, long lasting poisons are not needed. There are millions of tons of persistent chemicals dropped on our fields, in our homes and yards and on the environment every year, and none of it is necessary. Perma-Guard Products can only claim to kill those bugs EPA allows them to list on the label, but the truth of the matter is that no bug has ever been found that survive a reasonable contact with DE Products.
HOW DOES DE KILL BUGS IF IT IS NOT POISON? Fly swatters are not poison but they kill bugs. Bugs are not built like higher forms of life. It does not have blood vessels. It has a shell full of vital fluids. The main way DE kills the bug is for the tiny particles getting between the working parts of the insect, like where his head, wings and legs join the body. As they move, the small abrasive particles wear holes in their shell, and the bug usually will die within twenty or thirty minutes, long enough for a new user to think it does not work. GIVE IT TIME!
