THE THIRD ROCK FROM THE SUN

It is a shame that the name of the writer I want to quote can not be recalled, and I can't even give the exact quote, but the general idea was: THE THIRD PLANET FROM THE SUN IS INHABITED BY VERY DESTRUCTIVE SPECIES CALLED HUMANS!

I would gladly give him credit, but he might not want to go along with the rest of my story---but-then, again he just might!

Most everyone knows that there are parasites that destroy the host that gives them life. There is the Coddling Moth that lays an egg in the middle of the apple blossom. The blossom closes and the egg actually hatches inside the apple, and they must eat their way out.

Anyone who knows about wine knows that there are bacteria using the sugar in the juice that creates wine, and we humans might be grateful but the poor bacteria actually destroy themselves in the process.

Cider is made by bacteria in apple juice and when the alcohol percentage reaches its limit, they die.

Is man any different? If man is created in the image of God, then there is no hope for us.

In the paper yesterday was an article giving details about the rapid melting of the ice on the Antarctic continent. Already the level of all the oceans of the world has risen three inches, and the expectations is the rate of melting will accelerate, raising the water levels many feet, covering many islands totally and wiping out costal cities around the world. For example, much of Florida and New York City will be under water.

Most of the industrial companies of the world have signed an agreement about reducing the burning of fossil fuel which is the major cause of the melting ice. Our country is the largest user of fossil fuel, but our government has refused to sign the agreement.

For many years there has been articles showing that the world's oil will be depleted within the lifetime of most of the people on the planet. How would you have gone to work this morning if there was no gasoline?

This morning's paper had an article saying there were indications that Saudi Arabia is running out of oil.

There is no sign that anything will be done about this. We spent billions of dollars on a crash course to build the atomic bomb. If we were to create a massive effort to find alternative fuels, it could probably be done in less time and at lower cost and we would have our solution. Are we gong to wait until the gas stations close down?

It has been estimated that 50% of the world's population goes to bed hungry every night, and that 50% of the world's food grain is destroyed by insects and rodents. The population is growing at a rate that is scary but there has been no increase in the land for growing food. In fact, with the population increase, we keep covering the best farm land with houses for the hungry people to live in.

The crop land itself is badly depleted. I have read that in 1940, wheat grown in western Kansas had 19% protein content and that today is below 9%. Can it give you the same level of nutrition?

Most of our health problems are directly related to poor nutrition. The health of our soil is so badly damaged with Pesticides and artificial fertilizers that the food produced has not got the ability to give the user the health he would like to enjoy.

We are the richest nation in the world, and we allow the giant companies to force us to eat food that makes us sick so that the same companies can produce medicine to alter the symptoms so we think we are being helped. Then you need another drug to help you with the symptoms produced by the first one.

Our government will not solve that problem. Every session of congress will address the problems, but they will do nothing to change the situation. These large companies have so much money and influence that a congressman running for election will not go against them.

The only solution is for each individual and groups of people to quit going to the doctors that cannot cure their own nutritional induced diseases, and who cooperate with the drug companies and hospitals and do what you can to get maximum nutrition for yourself and your family.

When I had my first garden in 1954 I was absolutely amazed at how much food I could grow in half of my back yard. We not only largely fed ourselves, but also, half of the neighborhood, and the food had no pesticides and artificial fertilizers.

I am appalled at what the American people put up with. We have had it so easy we have allowed our politicians to make life time careers drawing high wages, spending our money on things that are not in our interests but in their interest in maintaining their position. It is time we took a personal interest in our own welfare. WE HAVE THE POWER-WE MUST START USING IT.
